Where are the camps located?
At the University of Washington. Check in for each camp will take place at the beach volleyball courts on the UW campus. The beach courts are located on the north side of the Intramural Building (IMA), a few minutes walk north from Alaska Airlines Arena. For a campus map, CLICK HERE.
What should I do to get on the waitlist?
CLICK HERE. Campers should register for their desired camp to be placed on the wait list. This will get you in the system and if a spot opens up, you will be notified. It does not cost anything to sign up for the wait list and it keeps you in our system for next year as well.
How do I cancel my camp registration?
Email beach@derekolsonvolleyball.com. Please include your camper's name and any other relevant information.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. A full refund minus a $25 administrative fee will be returned if cancellation is received by our office before 5:00pm two weeks (14 days) prior to the start of your registered camp.
Are payment plans for tuition available?
Yes. There is a $50 deposit required with each registration. Campers may choose to pay in full at registration or set up a payment plan that will include installments automatically charged to the credit card on your account. There are no additional fees to set up a payment plan.
How are players divided during camp?
Players are initially divided by age and experience based on the information we receive during registration. The first day of each camp session includes an evaluation in order to make sure that players of similar skills are on a court together. Our goal is to have players on the court where they can learn best and improve the most.
Can I stay with my friend in the same group?
Yes. If there is someone that you want to be with during the whole week of camp, please let us know as soon as possible. After the initial evaluation, you may be asked to move courts based on our numbers, teaching styles, and the abilities of the players on each court. If it is more important to be together, the campers should talk with their coach when changes are made.
Are there dorms available for camp?
No, unfortunately our campus does not offer this option. There are plenty of great hotel options near campus!
Where do I park? Should I buy a parking permit?
The E-18 Parking Lot. This parking lot is located north of the arena. The UW parking department will again issue "drop-off" permits which allow you to park for 45 minutes around the beginning and end of each camp session. CLICK HERE to access the permit for your registered camp. This permit will allow you to park and walk your camper in and out each day. If you plan to stay longer and watch, you should buy a permit for the longer period of time. Parking is free on campus beginning Saturday at noon through Monday at 6:00am. Please follow all campus posted signs for more information.
Is there supervision before and after camp?
No. Beach Camp staff members will be available 15 minutes before the start of camp each day, and 15 minutes after the conclusion of camp. Please drop off and pick up your camper promptly.
Can I bring lunch to a camper?
Yes. Day Campers should bring a sack lunch with them each day. However, it is allowed for you to bring a lunch to them at camp. The lunch start times will vary throughout camp, but will generally begin sometime between 11:00 and 11:30am.
Will there be an athletic trainer at camp?
Yes. Trainers will be able to treat injuries and tape if necessary.
